City of Thousand Oaks Selects DigitalGlue to Provide Next Generation Production and Playout Solution From Harmonic Spectrum™ Family of Media Products From Harmonic will Upgrade TOTV’s Government and Community Channel

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. — October  26, 2015 – The City of Thousand Oaks, a premiere community in California, awarded by competitive bid the upgrade of their TOTV government access television channel to DigitalGlue. The project includes a Harmonic MediaDeck™ 7000 integrated media servers with MediaPort™ 7000 real-time video encoder/decoder modules, ProMedia® Carbon file-based transcoder, installation, and an annual Service Level Agreement (SLA) for support.

The TOTV channel provides Thousand Oaks’ citizens a window on their government by televising local council meetings and other city events. Eric Goor, TOTV's Senior Production Specialist, stated "We needed to upgrade a 10-year-old system and our focus was on ease-of-use, performance, 24/7 broadcast reliability, and integration into our existing workflow. DigitalGlue was able to provide us a cost effective Harmonic solution that not only met our current needs, but also delivered a technology path for future."

The recently installed Spectrum MediaDeck server and ProMedia transcoder are tightly integrated with TOTV's “to air” automated playout system and Network Attached Storage (NAS) archive. Incoming video files are transcoded to SD/HD broadcast quality files, then stored on their NAS. Daily playlists are created on an automation server that controls scheduled playout from the MediaDeck server for up to four simultaneous live channels.

The MediaPort 7000 I/O modules perform encoding and decoding for real-time ingest and playout. ProMedia Carbon is a file-based transcoding solution for the conversion of media into acquisition, editing, broadcast, web, and mobile formats.
